Each phase of the Mark 40 disconnectors has a vertical break with two fixed and one rotating isolator column.  The disconnector is equipped with high tension point contacts with silver inlay.  The unique construction clears any ice or corrosion coating on closing and opening.  Design and craftmanship is according to IEC standards.

The framework is made from hot galvanised square profiles.  The bearing for the rotating column is maintenance-free and consist of a stainless steel shaft with Tufcot supports and radial bearing.  Tufcot is a laminated, polyester based, low friction material with Teflon.  Conducting parts are made from high-grade aluminium alloys.  The contacts have silver inlay, and moving parts have ball bearings that are corrosion free and without need for lubrication.
